NIFT 2023 Application Form has been released on 1st November 2022. Admissions will be organized by The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). It is a reputed institution of the country which is known for providing its impeccable fashion education. The institute conducts NIFT entrance examination for admitting candidates in different UG & PG programs in the field of Design and Fashion technology NIFT entrance exam is organized every year. The candidates aspiring for admission in the courses offered by NIFT are required fill out the application form for the same. NIFT 2023 Application Form

  • Go for online registration link and fill out the asked details to register for exam.

Application Fee:

The application fee can be paid by only online mode using various transaction gateways such as Debit card/ Credit card, net or others.

Keep print out of payment receipt for proof or further reference. Category wise fee is mentioned below:

NIFT 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates need to match the eligibility criteria before filling out the application form. If NIFT eligibility criteria is not fulfilled, candidates cannot appear for NIFT 2023 exam:

Age Criteria:

  • For the applicants, the maximum age should be less than 24 years as on 1st August of admission year. However, for candidates of ST/ SC/ PWD categories, 5 years are relaxed in upper age limit.

For Bachelor of Design (B.Des):

  • Candidates should have completed a 10+2 (Intermediate) or equivalent exam from a recognized board/ institute.
  • Those who are appearing in the qualifying exam will also be eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who passed or appeared in the SSC examination (10+2) with five subjects from National Open School can apply.
  • Three years diploma holder will be eligible to apply.
  • The age of the candidate should not exceed 23 years.
  • Five-year relaxation to the reserved category candidates will be given as per rules.

For Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech.):

  • Candidate must have completed 10+2 or its equivalent exam from a recognized board/institute with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects.
  • Candidates having 3 years diploma in Engineering will also be eligible to apply.
  • The age of the applicant should not be more than 23 years (5-year relaxation to SC/ ST/ PH candidates).

For Master of Design (M.Des):

  • No age limit is prescribed for PG courses.
  • Candidates having B. Des. degree from a recognized institute or university OR having a diploma in UG Design from NIFT/NID are eligible.
  • Students who are appearing in the qualifying exam are also eligible.

For Master of Fashion (MFM):

  • Having undergraduate degree from a recognized institute or university in any discipline can apply OR having UG Diploma of 3 years duration from NIFT/NID.
  • No age limit fixed.

For Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech.):

  • Having B. F. Tech. degree from NIFT are eligible to apply.
  • Passed in B.E./B.Tech. from a recognized institute or university by law can apply.
  • Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam are also eligible.

NIFT 2023 Exam Pattern

The NIFT 2023 exam pattern will consist of General Ability Test (GAT), Creative Ability Test (CAT), and Group Discussion/ Personal Interview (GD/PI). GAT is mandatory for all courses while candidates who will be selected for B.Des. and M.Des. Courses will face the CAT exam after GAT. Candidates who will obtain qualifying marks in the written exam will have to appear in the Situation test (for B.Des.) and GD/PI (for M.Des.).

GAT Pattern (B.Des & M.Des):

  • Mode of Exam: The exam will be conducted in offline mode.
  • Duration: The exam duration will be of 2 hours.
  • Total Questions: There will be 100 questions in B.Des. and 120 questions in M.Des. in GAT.
  • Type of Questions: There will be multiple choice questions (MCQs) asked in the exam.
  • Medium: The medium of exam will be English only.
  • Negative Marking: There will be negative marking in the exam. It will be 25% of the full marks for the question for each incorrect answer.
  • Subject sections & No of Questions (for B.Des): There will be Quantitative Ability (20 questions), Analytical Ability (15), General Knowledge & Current Affairs (15), Communication Ability (25), and English Comprehension (25 questions).
  • Subject sections & No of Questions (for M.Des): There will be Quantitative Ability (20 questions), Analytical Ability (25), General Knowledge & Current Affairs (15), Communication Ability (30), and English Comprehension (30 questions).

GAT Pattern (B.F.Tech & M.F.Tech):

  • Mode of Exam: The exam will be conducted in offline mode only.
  • Duration: The exam will be of 3 hours.
  • Total questions: There will be total 150 questions.
  • Type of Question: There will be Multiple Choice Question (MCQs) asked in the exam.
  • Medium: The medium of exam will be English only.
  • Marking Scheme: Each question will carry equal marks.
  • Negative Marking: There will be no negative marking.
  • Subjects & No of Questions: There will be Quantitative Ability (30 questions), Analytical and Logical Ability (25), General Knowledge & Current Affairs (25), Communication Ability and English Comprehension (45 questions), and Case Study (25 questions).

NIFT 2023 Syllabus

The syllabus of NIFT 2023 is multi-disciplinary. The institute has already defined guidelines on the type of questions that will be asked as a part of the written test. Candidates are suggested to prepare for the exam strictly according to the syllabus specified by the NIFT.

General Ability Test (GAT) Syllabus:

Quantitative Ability: The questions will be based on topics such as Addition, Division, Multiplication, Fraction, Percentage, Simple Interest, Work and Time, Ratio & Proportion, Speed and Distance, etc.

Communication Ability: This test is designed to examine a candidate’s ability to communicate in the English language in day-to-day conversations. There will be questions about antonym, synonym, one-word substitution, idioms & phrases, spelling mistakes, sentence correction, singular & plural, etc.

English Comprehension: This sub-test analyses a candidate’s ability to comprehend a situation from a   given passage.

Analytical Ability: This sub-test is designed to assess a candidate’s inference & logic from the information given in the paper.

General Knowledge & Current Affairs: This sub-test assesses a candidate’s knowledge of the current events and affairs happening at the local as well as global level. It also comprises general knowledge-related questions.

Case Study: This sub-test is based on a situation of an industry environment. This part evaluates the managerial ability of a candidate.

Logical Ability: This sub-test is aimed to evaluate the candidate’s ability to identify the logic or reasons involved in a particular problem and apply the logic in solving the problem given in the paper.

Case study-based group discussions: Shortlisted candidates are required to go through Group Discussions. It would entail a discussion comprising of approximately 15 to 20 minutes of discussion on a case study given on which a panel of experts will assess the candidates on the following parameters-

  • Conceptual clarity
  • Knowledge of the topic assigned
  • The contribution made on the topic to the group
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to generate new ideas
  • Problem-solving approach
  • Leadership qualities
  • Effective communication

Personal interview: Shortlisted candidates will need to go through a Personal Interview. A candidate will be judged on the various parameters as listed below-

  • Career orientation
  • Aptness for the field
  • Overall personal achievements in academics and co-curricular activities
  • Communication
  • General awareness and aptitude, creative and lateral thinking are likely to be useful.

NIFT 2023 Admit Card

NIFT Admit card will be made available to students who will register for the exam successfully. The admit card will be available on the website through online mode from third week of January 2023.

Students have to logon to the website using their necessary login details to download the NIFT admit card. Admit cards will not be sent to the candidates individually through post or any other offline mode.

Candidates will have to bring their admit card along with them to the exam center, as they will not be allowed to participate in the examination without it.

NIFT 2023 Answer Key

NIFT Answer keys will be published few days after conclusion of the entrance exam. To be able to check answers, the answer keys will be released/ uploaded on the website. In case candidates find any discrepancy in the answer keys, they can raise objections against the question/ answers (responses).

The objections can be given by the students with payment of Rs.500/- per observation/objection. Students must note that objections can be submitted only by online mode within the time frame provided by the authority.

NIFT 2023 Result

The Result will be released by the exam conducting authority for every candidate who participated in the NIFT examination through online mode. The candidates will be able to download NIFT result after its release on the website. The result will be declared in the month of March 2023.

The candidate will be able to check the result by entering some of their important login details on the website. Candidates need to keep their result card safe till the completion of their admission procedure as it will be required at the time of admission.

NIFT 2023 Cut Off

The authority will release the NIFT Cut off by online mode on the website. The cut off will be released for various NIFT campuses – NIFT Gandhinagar, NIFT Delhi, NIFT Kolkata, NIFT Bengaluru, etc.

Complete cut off list will be released for various NIFT courses and according to various categories. It will be made available in the form of opening CMR (combined merit list) & closing CMR.

NIFT 2023 Counselling

The schedule of NIFT counselling process for session 2023 will be announced on the website. The counselling process will be organised by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).  It will be conducted from August 2023.

The counselling process will be conducted in various rounds as per the availability of vacant seats after each round of counselling. The counselling process will be conducted for shortlisted candidates from the GD & PT round.

Candidates need to carry some of the important documents at the time of the counselling process. The documents need to be verified by the authority. Some of the important documents are mentioned below:

  • 10th & 12th Pass certificate
  • Category certificate
  • Several Passport size photographs
  • Transfer certificate
  • Medical certificate
  • Affidavit of provisional admission
